Fortunately, the solution to clearing the cache is straightforward. Follow the steps below if you’re a newbie:

  • Step 1. Head over to Settings, and look for Apps.
  • Step 2. Once in Apps, search for the Google Play Services app
  • Step 3. Open App details and hit “Force Stop”

If Force Stop is Disabled: Go to Settings, and look for Device admin apps. Deactivate the following apps:

  • Find My Device
  • Google Play
  • Step 4. Once Google Play Services is stopped, tap on the “Clear Cache” button to finalize the process.

Google Play Services Keep Stopping Fix #2 – Uninstall Google Play Services Updates

In some cases, your phone’s current firmware could cause incompatibility issues with the latest Google Play Services update.

If you just recently encountered this issue, then it’s most likely caused by a recent update. Here’s how to check:

  • Step 1. Head over to Settings, and look for Apps.
  • Step 2. Once in Apps, search for the Google Play Services app
  • Step 3. Open App details and hit “Force Stop.” Then, tap the “Disable” button
  • Step 4. Once disabled, tap on the 3 dots to open up a new window
  • Step 5. Hit Uninstall Updates, then wait for the process to complete. Hit the “Enable” button before you exit.

Next on our list is clearing the cache for Google Services Framework. The process is pretty much the same as clearing the Google Play Services cache.

Google Play Services Keep Stopping Fix #4 – Uninstall Android System Webview Updates and Chrome Updates

Another potential conflict shared by other Android users for Google Play Services keep stopping is due to the Android System Webview updates. If this service has been updated recently, then there’s a big chance that the culprit is this one. Here’s how to get rid of it:

  • Step 1. Head over to Settings, and look for Apps.
  • Step 2. Once in Apps, search for System Apps or App Settings
  • Step 3. Search for Android System Webview,
  • Step 4. Once in Android System Webview, look for the 3 dots, and hit Uninstall Updates
  • Step 5. Go back to the Apps section, and this time go to the Chrome app
  • Step 6. Under Chrome app, hit on the 3 dots, and select Uninstall Updates
  • Step 7. Check if Google Play Services is still experiencing issues. If the issue seems to be resolved, we recommend updating Android System WebView and Google Chrome apps once again. This should resolve crashing issues.

Additional Troubleshooting Steps

If for some reason, your Google Play Services keeps stopping despite trying out all the fixes listed above, then we recommend doing extra troubleshooting. Some of these are very similar to the steps above. Just replace the app or service in question and follow the steps.

  • Check if the internet connection is stable
  • Restart Phone

  • Remove and Re-Enter Account Credentials
  • Use a more stable Custom ROM for your Android device
